Ted’s professional foundation was established in 1996 when he founded Piano Movers Plus, a specialized logistics company that evolved from his deep involvement in his family’s legacy business, Summitt Pianos. His entry into the global health and education sector was catalyzed by a life-changing journey through Southern and Eastern Africa, where he not only immersed himself in Africa’s rich cultural landscapes but also engaged with healthcare institutions and professionals on the ground. This awakened a commitment to support future medical leaders through immersive, globally-informed travel programs. At Young Surgeons Travel, Ted's role encompasses everything from strategic program design and risk management to vendor coordination and participant support. Joshua Omolo is the Director of Program Development & Student Logistics Operations in Africa of Young Surgeons Travel, where he leads the development and execution of high-impact medical travel programs across Africa. With a deep-rooted passion for cross-cultural learning and community advancement, Joshua plays a central role in organizing immersive, hands-on experiences that introduce young medical professionals to healthcare realities on the African continent. As Program Director, he oversees all African site development, travel logistics, and student onboarding, ensuring that each program is not only professionally coordinated but also culturally respectful and socially relevant. From bustling urban hospitals to rural outreach clinics, Joshua creates opportunities for participants to gain real-world exposure and develop global competencies in medicine. An alumnus of Alliance High School in Kenya and certified by the Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music – UK (ABRSM), Joshua is also a seasoned international performer and educator. His global mindset and deep connection to Africa make him an essential force in delivering authentic, purpose-driven travel experiences. A native of Mombasa, Kenya, Joshua brings unmatched regional insight and operational expertise to the organization’s Africa-based programs. Under his leadership, Young Surgeons Travel has built strong partnerships with hospitals, clinics, universities, and public health institutions across East Africa. These programs offer students the chance to engage directly with surgical teams, shadow local physicians, and explore the public health challenges and innovations unique to African healthcare systems.

Before joining Young Surgeons Travel, Julie honed her expertise as an administrator at Summitt Properties and Piano Movers Plus, where she managed client relations, team logistics, and business support functions in fast-paced environments. Her experience navigating complex administrative systems has equipped her with a sharp eye for detail, a talent for communication, and a commitment to operational excellence. In her current role, Julie serves as a vital link between the organization’s core team and its overseas partners. James Cole
Senior Advisor – Global Program Operations
James Cole brings over a decade of business leadership, strategic planning, and program development experience to his role as Senior Advisor at Young Surgeons Travel. With a strong foundation in accounting, operations, and client-focused services, James plays a vital role in guiding program logistics, enhancing participant experience, and ensuring operational excellence across our growing portfolio of professional travel programs.
James began his business journey in 2009, earning an Associate’s Degree in Business Administration with an emphasis in Accounting from Cleveland State Community College, where he also earned honors recognition as a member of Phi Theta Kappa. He continued his education at Tennessee Wesleyan University, graduating Cum Laude with a B.S. in Business Management in 2013.

Ranjit Sondhi
Africa Travel & Program Consultant
Ranjit Sondhi brings a legacy of leadership in Kenyan tourism and hospitality to his role at Young Surgeons Travel. A Norwegian businessman living in Kenya, Ranjit is an explorer and travel planner with experience in hotel management and event organization across Africa. Raised in a family instrumental in developing Kenya’s coastal tourism sector, he gained firsthand exposure to hotel operations, destination marketing, and stakeholder collaboration from an early age. This background has equipped him with a network of trusted partnerships across hospitality venues, local authorities, and communities. He is the CEO of Reef Hotels / Copperbelt Lodges Ltd and a prominent hospitality provider in East and Central Africa. A well-known safari and tours organizer, Ranjit enhances Young Surgeons Travel’s ability to deliver high-quality, regionally relevant experiences. His strategic direction ensures that aspiring medical professionals gain not only clinical insight but also a profound appreciation for Africa’s rich tourism and cultural diversity.
